AUSTRALIANS v. KENT.

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright. LONDON, August 10. The Australians began a match to-day, at Canterbury, against the following Kent eleven:—Mason, Burnup, A. Hearne, Pat'terson, Bradley, Huish, Humphreys, Dv Boulay, Stewart, Weigall, Day. The weather was brilliant, the wicket fast, and the attendance large. Trumble, Johns and Hill are standing out of the Australian "team.

The scoring was fast, and the play up to the luncheon adjournment resulted in the loss of three wickets by the Australians far 127 runs. The fourth wicket fell for 163 runs, The innings closed for 227. Kent, in their first innings, have scored 29 without the loss of a wicket. Following are the scores: — AUSTRALIANS. First Innings.
