A DISASTROUS VISITATION. A WHITE STAR LINER SUNK. United Pren Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, February 14. The heavy snowfall in New York almost stopped business, and the railways and trams were blocked. The harbour is filled with ice. and vessels are unable to enter. The White Star Liner 6ermanic,which was lyiug at New York pier, was overweighted by the ice collected on the decks and coal, and suddenly listed. The water poured into the port holes, and the vessel sunk. Many schools throughout America are closed, the children being unable to face the cold and snowdrifts. The operatives remain in many of the factories, which are warmer than their own houses. February 15. One hundred thousand people are in a ■tarving condition in New York. The orange and fruit crops of the southern States have been ruined. The blizzard has abated.
