Gavin (secretary). ' Apologies for absence were received from ' Messrs U. J. Marshall and J. Hamilton. The Chairman reported that the Charitable Aid Board had continued the payment '■ of the grant, and since last meeting two ' months contribution had been sent in. .He r and Mr Board, as a sub-committee, recogf nised that one of the representatives of tne * local authorities should have a seat on the f Mouse Cornxoiuee, on\* member of which, it » was suggested, should retire to make room i for sucu representaitive. They had no r.eJ commendation to make concerning the ap- . pointment of treasurer. As to a finance committee, it was thought that this body 1 would be unnecessary in view of the state--1 ment of accounts presented at each meeting. I He moved the adoption of the report. 1 Mr Board seconded the motion, and said ) he was of the opinion that under the explanation of the Chairman, there was no [. ixecessitgr for a Finance Committee, which > tha whole trustees really constituted themi selves. I The motion was carried. Mr Gavin re- ' signed his seat on the House Committee, - and Mr Board was elected to the vacancy. The Chairman reported that Mrs Macpherson had bean appointed sub-matron at . the salary as before, £30 a year. A letter was read from Mr J. L. Wilson, - | declining to attend or resign, as he did not . j consider the trustees were .egatly elected. It was decided to allow Mr Wilson's seat ■ i to become vacant by effluxion of time., f On the motion ot Mr Board, seconded b- ■ Mr Sorensen, it was decided to resume the i ' supplying of monthly returns to tho Charij taoio Aid Board. i' The Chairman suggested, as advantage to the community and a benefit to the persons themselves, that the Charitable Aid Board should recommend or send other than first . . cases of maternity to the Home. During the past year 19 cases had gone through the i Home, and with all but one case, which went to Wellington, the trustees kept in , touch. ■ Mr Board approved of the suggestion as I regarded some cases. | Tho Chairman read the balance "beet from ■ January 12th to February, 10th. It showed » the receipts, including £23 lis 6d brought ' forward, to have been £103 6s 7d, and the . ! expenditure £40 6s sd, leaving a balance i j fcarried forward of £63 0s 2d. The assets . ' amounted to £128 9s, and the liabilities to , I £179 13s 4d. This brought a debit of" about £50, which the Chairman explained was made up chiefly by the costs oi the Com- ! mission, nearly the whole of which the . trustees had paid. i The balance sheet was approved, and ac- . counts amountin- to £24 9s 9d were passed for payment. Mrs Dunkley submitted the report of the . i House Committee, which stated that there ■ were 15 men, 26 women, and 5 infants in ■ the institution, was suggested that a quantity of "flannelette, calico, and wool for the women to work, and leather for some of. the men, should be procured. The report was adopted, and the Com-' mittee were voted £6 for the goods. It was decided that the matron should make an inventory of furniture, linen, and clothing.
