•» The annual meeting of the Loyal Cole* ridge Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., was held on Tuesday. The auditors' report and balancesheet were read, showing the lodge to be in a satisfactory financial position, although, owing tc heavy medical expenses, there was .a deficiency of 7s for the year. The receipts for the Sick and Funeral fund are £107 10s Bd, expenditure £80 10s; Management fund receipts £78 expenditure £105 8s 8d ; the total worth of the Sick and Funeral fund being £45.1 125.5 d, and of the Management fund £105 8s Bd. The Anglo-American Variety Company gave a very successful entertainment last night in the Oddfellows' Hall, Lyttelton, a full house thoroughly appreciating every item. The fortnightly meeting of the committee of the Children's Aid Society was held on Thutßday evening. Correspondence was received from Inspector Broham in reply to the committee's representations regarding a child alleged to be in the care of a woman of disreputable character. The difficulty experienced by the committee in inducing the police to take action in such cases was discussed, and it was resolved to be more persistent in seeking out and reporting them. Some other families were reported to the committee, and the secretary was directed to communicate with the police regarding them. At the usual meeting of the Prohibition League last evening, the organiser for the Christchurch electoral district reported as to the work done during the week. It was decided to recommecd the Canterbury executive to arrange fir a visit from Mr Harrison Lee. The committee was empowered to make arrangements for a lecture by Mr T. E. Taylor on " Successes and Failures of Prohibition in Glutha."
