PAPANUI IMPROVEMENTS.
>m A meeting of the Papanui Progress Committee was held last night. Dr. Brittin was appointed chairman of the committee for the , year. . The ratepayers' roll was pone through in order to ascertain if every property wae . tfnroerly represented, and arrangemente were made for several transfers and alterations being effected in order to secure the accuracy of the roll in view of the poll for the proposed loan. The Chairman intimated, with regret, that on the expiry of Mr Morgan's year on the Board he intended to resign, and it would be necessary for the committee to bring forward a candidate. Attention was drawn to what is considered the unequal representation of Papanui on the Avon Road Board, and ifr was pointed out that the Papanui ward, with 347 voters, had only one member, whilst the Richmond ward, with 87 voters, and the New Brighton ward, with 175 voters, had" each one member. It was decided tShat a deputation should wait on the Board and ask them to consider the question,
