THE NEW GUINEA LAND SYNDIBRISBANE, February 8. Negotiations are proceeding between the Government and the Imperial authorities in reference to the payment of compensation to the New Guinea Land Syndicate. THET RECLAMATION O* DRUNKARDS. MELBOURNE, February 8. Commandant Booth has offered that if the Government will provide the necessary land and capital, the Salvation Army will undertake the reclamation of drunkards. THE QUEENSLAND ELECTIONS. The writs for the general elections will probably be issued next week. The polling will take place from the end of March to the middle of April.
