Yesterday at the Midland Sneyards the entry was much larger than for some time, about 3000 sheep coming foiward. The bulk of them were breeding ewes, with a few small lines of forward wethers. Fat Sheep were fairly well competed for. and there was a keeii enquiry tor all kinds of Btores, more especially for good young breeding ewes, and some very fair prices were refused at auction, vendors placing almost prohibitive reserves upon their consignments, but after the sale a great many were sold privately, and nearly tbe whole of the yarding changed hands. Fat wethers brought lis 3d to 12s 6d, good ewes 10s to lis Yd and older sorts 8s 6d to 9s 6d, fat lambs 9s 6d to 10s 9d, fo> ward wethers 9s 7d to lis, mixed two-tooths 9s 4d to 10a 6d, good young breeding ewes 10s to lis 4d, sound mouthed do tis bd to 9s 3d, aged do 4s 9d to 6s, store lambs 6s 8d to 9s 2d. At the Rangiora Markets on Tuesday, there was a good attendance, as harvesting was suspended through the weather. At the Central Yards there was an entry of 4000 sheep, 40 cattle, and 60 pigs. Prices were— Butchers' ewes 8s 6d to 10s 3d, halfbred breeding ewes 7s 6d to 8s od, older sorts 5s 6d to 6s od, fat lambs 10s to 10s 9d, store do 7s 6d to 9s 4«l, sound-mouth merino ewes 5s 6d to 6s 9d, two tooth halfbred ewes and wetliers 9s 6d to 10s 9d. Cattle—Beef equal to 18s per 1001b. springers **o to £5 10s, yearlings £1 to £1 ss, eighteen months cattle £1 10s to £1 15s, dry cows £1 5s to £2. Pigs—Baconers 55s to 62s 6d, good porkers 35s to 38s, small do 28s to 50s, good stores 28s to 30s, small do 20s to 255, weaners its to 16s, suckers 8s to 9s. In the produce yards the prices were:—Woolly sheepskins to 3s Bd, pelts 4d, merino wool 6Jd per lb, three-quarter wool sj£d, wool pieces 3d, fowls 3s per pair, ducks 2s 9d, chickwheat Is 9d to 2s. sharps ss, bran 2s 9d, new oats Is 4£d, old do Is od, new potatoes _d per lb, onions Id.
