APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE TRESS. Sir, —Your correspondents, signed "Parent" and "A.8.C.,' re the appointment of school teachers, must be plain to all who have been in any way concerned in such appointments. At present the way the appointments are made is simply a disgrace to intelligence and straightforwardness. The fluent tongue, the crafty applicant, the unlearned and unexperienced committees, are all accountable for allowing this sort of thing to exist-, and to over-ride abilities and meekness of spirit. And this does not apply, to the appointment of teachers alone. In this age of competition it applies all round, and in my opinion wiK do so until we get far more intelligent men to represent our school districts on committees and our Education Boards are abolished.— Yours, &c, DARFIELD.
