WITHOUT A LIGHT.
A cyclist who was charged with riding through Kaiapoi without a light after the sun had set sent an explanation that he was riding from Kaikoura to Christchurch against time, and expected to have passed in daylight, but at Waikari his back tyre had been cut by a glass bottle. The Court could not accept the excuse. The usual fine and costs were imposed.
