MEETINGS, ENTERTAINMENTS, &c.

At the ordinary meeting of the Christchurch Prohibition League, attention was again drawn to the report , that children under thirteen were served with drink in hotels. Members were unanimously of opinion that the age should be raised to sixteen.

A well attended meeting of the subscribers to the New Brighton Public Bath Scheme was held at Ne\v Brighton on Thursday, Mr Owles in the chair, it was resolved to construct the bath, aid Messrs Owles, Mclntyre, Nieholls, Pattrick, Smart and Truscott were appointed as a committee to carry out the construction. The matter of management and control of tho bath will be defined hereafter at a duly summoned meeting oi subscribers. Estimate of the cost of dams and other work was laid before the meeting, and it 'vras agreed that the committee meet on Monday at the bath site to arrange specifications for the contract.

Swimming Club was held on Thursday. reported that 150" entries* had been recerved for the animal races, which will be held in the Richmond baths this afternoon, and that there were seven entries for the 100 yds Provincial Championship of Canterbury. Twelve new members were elected,, which makes 100 new members elected this season.
