THE COMPLETION OF THE CATHEDRAL.

TO THE EDITOR OF. TUE PRESS. Sir,—As a slight effort to help this work I ask for space for a few lines. The subscription list published is a good beginning, but is not quite a third of the sum required. AH must have been gratified with the noble subscription of the Bishop of Christchurch, and with the generous gifts of Sir John Hall and Canon Harper, and must admit that the other subscriptions evince a generous spirit. I think it will bo admitted that vxsry one benefits by the maintenance-of religion; the Church of England by its breadth and liberality, and being the National Church' of our race, specially appeals to every one for support. Then, too, the Cathedral will, when finished, bo the chief ornament of the city ; let every one, therefore, who can honestly afford give jn accordance with his means and with the other demands upon hm. A great number of small subscriptions would soon equal the larger ones already given. For myself I intend if necessary to give a second time.— Yours, &c, CITIZEN. , GhrUtchuroh, February 3rd.
