Thubsoat. February 2, (Before C. A- JVray, Esc(., S.M.) I'hbeatenikg Language.—Charles Jarvis was charged wifli having threatened to do his wife, Elizabeth Jarvis, bodily harm. Mr Wilding for informant, Mr Cuthberteon for defendant. From the evidence it appeared that the parties had been separated for a considerable time, and that on Monday last defendant went to his wife's house and-used threatening language towards her. Defendant was cautioned not to again molest his wife, and the case was adjourned sine die. The Printers Act.—John McKeagne, managing editor,of the "Ashburton Standard," waa charged, on the information of J. R. McKay, with a breach of the Printers Act by assisting to publish a leaflet without attaching an imprint lo the same. Mr Cuthbertson appeared for tile informant,' Mr Wilding for the defendant. Evidence was led to show that a certain leaflet hod been printed at and issued from the "Standard" office, but there had been no attempt at conof autborsliip or from ~what office . the leaflet was issued. The case waa dismissed. A.aecond information for publishing a newspaper without a sufficient imprint was held over for a week.
