CHRISTCHURCH BOWLING CLUB.

■ "»i The members of the Christchurch Bowling Club met at Warner's Hotel last night. The chair was occupied by the president, Mr Struthers, and there was a large attendance of members. . The secretary, Dr. Thomas, explained , that the Dewar bowls, which had been won by Mr A. V. Parsons, had been handed over to that gentleman. , The president said the flpeoial.business of the meeting was with regard to the tournament, to bo held in Christohuroh, commencing on the 23rd January. The Tournament Committee had resolved to re- . 1 serve the right to withdraw the singles- if there was not time to complete them; tho . tournament rinks and doubles taking precedence. Mr S. Manning moved—" That the Club be represented by six rinks at the touroa* 1 ment." Dr. Thomas seconded the motion. Dr. Brittin moved as an amendment— "That any members be allowod to enter . who might desire to do so." He suggested that they should select two skips to make r up two strong rinks, and outside of that let any members enter who might foel disposed. His opinion was that a rink of skipu f was a very bad rink. Mr Throp suggested that the . committee should pick sixteen of the best players in the Club, and let the players select their skips. After some discussion, Dr. Brittin moved as an amendment— " That two strong rinks be ohoaen." MrL. B. Wood seconded the amendment, whioh was put and carried. On the motion of Mr A. W. Money,, the two skips of the rinks were elected by ballot, and Messrs Struthers and Maddison were selected-. The two skips then seleoted their rinks as under:—-Measrß W. M. Gibb, A. V. Parsons, G. Lambie, B. Struthers (skip); Messrs J. H. Seager, H. N. Nalder, A. V. B. Bishop and J. 0. Maddison (skip). ' It was resolved that four other skips be selected to form four more rinks, making six in all; and on a ballot Messrs Jaokson, Manning; Barnett and Dr. Brittin were chosen. It waß resolved that the four skips meet on Tuesday next oh the green to arrange the four rinks. The meeting then adjourned.
