SIR MAURICE O'RORKE.
Owing to continued indisposition. Sir v Maurioe O'Rorke has not been able to • take his seat in the chair since last Friday week. -He was expected to resume duty on Tuesday, but at the last moment it was announced that he had not sufficiently recovered. To-night • some surpriee was caused when the news got abroad that he had suddenly left for Auckland. It is particularly unfortunate that Sir Maurice should be absent at the present juncture, inasmuch as the much-debated question of the insertion of a map in " Hansard" should, in accordance with precedent, be decided by him. Indeed, the general opinion is that if he had been in bis place the matter would never have been earned so far.
