FOOTBALL.
The Otago representative football team left 'Duu-.-din*' yesterday afternoon in the Monowai, and reach Lyttelton early to-day. They stay at the Clarendon Hotel until -Saturday,-, and, after their match with Canterbury, leave in the evening for Wellington. An alteration has been found necessary in the local team. T. Chambers met with an accident at Napier to one of his knees, and as this will prevent him I rom playing to-morrow J. D. Fraser, of the Merivale Club, has been selected to take his place. The members of the local team are to meet at 2 p.m., to-morrow, at the Chmtchurch Club's rooms, Morten's Buildings. The Canterbury football representatives held a very successful practice in tho train-ing-room on Wednesday night, when some good work was done.

WELLINGTON, September L • The management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union has instructed the secretary to write and officially deny the statements made, in an interview, by Mr Mason, the manager of the Canterbury team, regarding laxity on the part of the Wellington*. Union officials in providing hotel accommodation for the Canterbury men.
