NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
The annual general meeting of the Sydenham and Addington Crioket Club will be held at the Sydenham Chambers on Monday next, at 8 p.m. The annual general meeting of the U.R.C. will be held on Friday next, at 8 p.m., in the boathouse. The annual meeting of the TJ.C.C. takes place on Saturday, September 10th, at 8 p.m., at the Claiendon Hotel. The special adjourned meeting of the St. Albans Borough Council will be held tonight. A meeting of the Chrysanthemum Society will be held to-night in the A. and P. Association rooms, when a paper on chrysanmuoi culture will be read by Mr N. L. D. Smith. An entertainment has been arranged to take plaoe at the Theatre Royal on Thursday evening next in aid of the funds of St. Mary's Home. A strong list >>f patrons has been secured, including the Bishop, his Worship the Mayor and Ms Louisson, Mr Justice Denniston aud Mrs Denmston, Sir John Hall aud Lady Hall, Mesdamts Cowlishaw, Heaton Rhodes, A. E. G. Rhodes, Studholme, &c. The vocalists will be Miss Gray, Miss Lake, Messrs Hockley and Miliar. Miss Jennie West, in addition to acting as accompanist, will play a piano solo, and tMiss Julius will also play a violin solo. The second part of the entertainment will comprise the clever comedy drama " Old Phil's Birthday," which was recently so successfully phiyed by the members of the St John's Dramatic Club. The Hals well contingent of the Mounted Rifles will hold their first annual social in the Ualswell schoolioom thji evening. Sergeant Ma dowall <>as arranged tor a drag to Jeave Cathedral square al 7 this evening. At a meeting ot' the Garrison ball committee, it was decided to hold the ball at the Art Gallery on Thursday, 22ud iiisfc. The attendance is to be limited to 100 couples.
