AN INSOLENT PRISONER.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TEMSOKAM.) AUCKLAND, August 31. A youth named Henry Barrett Rose, one of the prisoners before the Supreme Court, yesterday adopted an insolent demeanour during the hearing of his ' ■ case. After receiving his. sentence he intimated his intention-and ability to do it on his head, with very lurid language that caused a sensation. He clung .to they"railing in 'front of the dock, but was removed with some difficulty by two warders. The ErisoHer" is twenty-two years of age, and as already figured in enough cases to give him a reputation of the Jack Sheppard order. Beginning in 1894 with an odd case or two of larceny, he went on breaking and entering, thence to robbery under arms. Yesterday he received four years imprisonment on" a charge of breaking, entering and stealing.
