SCALE-INFECTED FRUIT.
(PRKSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, July 21. The precaution taken to prevent scaleinfected oranges from being landed iv Auokland is likely to cause loss to importeis. This week several consignments were sent hack to Sydney, the fruit having been imported on the understanding that it would be permissible to remove scale. This has, however, been prohibited. Conse. quently the only thing left was tc either destroy the fruit or ship it back again. Heavy consignments are expected by the Taviuni on Saturday, also ordei ed under the idea that cleaning would be allowed. Had due notice been given before the prohibiting of cleaning, importers would have been saved considerable trouble.
