The Monowai, from Melbourne, via ■Hobart and Dunedin, arrives here this morning and will leave for Wellington at night.
The barque Activ, which arrived from Newcastle on Wednesday evening, had a somewhat protracted voyage, as ehe left Newcastle on May 10th. During the earlier portion of her voyage she had strong northeasterly winds. Whennearing Cook Strait she met a northerly wind with which she got through the strait. Coming down the coast, however, she met with a very heavy south-east gale, which drove her back considerably the northward, and carried away her foretopmast and smashed a portion of her bulwarks. She afterwards had fine weather.
