(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) AUCKLAND, June 9. Mr F, Lawry addressed his Parnell constituents to-night in the Newmarket Hall. Hβ justified the administration of the Government, and severely criticised the late speeches of Mr Scobie Mackenzie, M.H.K., in Auckland, and of Mr Geo. Hutchison, M.H.R. He received a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence for his support of the Government. He stated that he would contest Manukau if Sir Maurice O'Rorke retired, but otherwise he would contest Parnell against all comers at the next election. He hoped Sir Maurice O'Rorke would not retire. GISBORNE, June 9. At a meeting of the East Chast Railway League this afternoon a sub-committee w&s appointed to prepare a local Bill for the purpose of the advancement of railway construction beneficial to the district. WELLINGTON, June 9. The Premier will probably go South on Saturday In the Supreme Court to-day Henry Harding, for uttering a valueless cheque, was' Sentenced to fifteen months' imprisonment ; and Hugh Spiers and Angus Black, for robbery with violence, to two years. Donald McKenzie, oyster saloon proprietor, who was set upon by three men and in the affray wounded two of them with a knife, was acquitted. DUNEDIN, June 9. H. E. Chirm, traveller for Sargood, Son and Ewen, shot himself to-night, and is not expected to recover. So far as can be learned, he was on his way home with a friend whom he asked to "wait a minute." He then stepped into a right-of-way and shot himself in the mouth with a revolver, the ball travelling up and lodging in his brain. He had been in bad health for some time past. An Otago Pharmaceutical Association has been formed, with Mr T. W. Kempthorne FTklrCarew, S.M., gave judgment to-day at his private residence, owing to indisposition, in the case in which A. and J. McFarlane were charged with having in their possession, intended for food, nineteen carcases of sheep not fit for food. Mr Carew said that the carcases were not intended for food when seized, and the case must be dismissed. A
