The following is the result of the DERBY STAKES, of 6000 soys, by subscription of 50 soys each; nominator of winner 500 soys, owner of second 300 soys, and of third 200 soys out of the stake. Mr Larnach'sch c Jeddah, by Janissary—Pilgrimage .. .. • • • • .. 1 Duke of Westminster's br c Batt, by SheenVampire ... .. .. • • .. 2 H.H.H. the Prince of Wales's b c Dunlop, by Ayrshire—foriuna .. . • - .. 3 The betting on the placed horsea at the start of the Derby was 100 to 1 agst Jeddah and Dunlop, 100 to 10 Batt. [Jeddah was seen out only twice as a two-year-old, and on both occasions he ran second. He appeared at the Newmarket October meeting, .his first race oeing the Clearwell Stakes, in which he was beaten by three lengths by that good colt Orzil in a field of seven. Jeddah then started for the Free Handicap at the same meeting, and in a field of eight was second favourite at 4 to 1 to Nun Nicer, but wa3 defeated by a head, Meta 11. being the winner.]
