A MESSAGE FROM THE SEA.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, May 21,
A sealed bottle was picked up in Auckland Harbour to-day, containing the following message :—■" S.S. Maitland, coast of Australia. For God's sake send help and provisions, we are starving. We have drifted fifty miles north of the wreck of the Maitland. Signed, F.C."
