Copjrif-ht. Received May 21st, 10 a.m. London, May 20. Silver is quoted at 2s 2sd per oz.

Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from their London office, under date 19th instant: —

'• The wool sales closed firm and lately reported rates are fully maintained. The total available, including old stocks, of colonial (Australasian and Cape) was 207,000 bales, of which some 98,000 have been sold for Home consumption, 76,000 for the Continent and nil for America, leaving 38,000 bales to be carried forward to the next series. For the bulk of merino and fine crossbred wools, good and best qualities, prices are on the average at par to 5 per cent, lower than closing .rates of last series; for lower qualities 5 per cent, lower, and for the bulk of coarse crossbred wools 5 to 8 per cent, lower."
