EXTRAORDINARY SCENE IN A COURT-ROOM.
SYDNEY, March 16.
George Henry MoNicol, a respondent in a divorce case, on Monday whilst a matter in which he (McNicol) was not concerned was being heard before Mr Justice Simpson, rushed excitedly towards the bench and in loud tones demanded permission to enter an appearance. Flinging his hat on the platform, he folded his arms and glared defiantly at the judge. The man being informed-that his case had not yet been reached, apologised to the Court and sat on the litigants' seat. His wife was sitting on the same seat, and suddenly McNicol made a savage attack upon her, striking her violently iv the face, and blackening both her eyes. Half a dozen spectators quickly seized McNicol, who struggled violently. He was subsequently sentenced to four days' imprisonment for contempt of court.
