LAWN TENNIS.
The following players have been selected to practise for the match Otago v Canterbury :—Meadames Bristed, Boss and Pinckney, Misses Lean, Simpson, M. Simpson, K. van A»eh, Styche, A. Baldwin, Kiver, Aitken, Howard and S. Meares, and Messrs Barlow, Collins, Cox, Ferguson, Grossman, Gareia, Kiver, Laurie, MoLeod, Ross, Sinclair, Sutcliffe, Styche and Wilding. Practice will be held on both Cranmer Square and Linwood tennis courts. Ladies on Tuesdays at Linwood and on Fridays at Cranmer Square. The Christchurch Tennis Club has just completed the second and third round of the Handicap Singles for Mr Pannell's trophy, and the following are the results:—Ladies' Singles—Second round—Mies Grant beat Miss F. Harrop, 6—4 ; Mies Garforth beat Miss Jackson, 6—o; Miss Trounce beat Miss Spring, 6—2; Miss M. Harrop beat Miss O. R. Kirk, 6—5; Miss Darose beat Miss M. R. Kirk, 6—o ; Miss Brown beat Miss Sopp, bye; Miss Morrison beat Miss L. Brown, 6—5; Miss Pyoe beat Miss Wray, 6—3; Mis 3 Williams beat Miss B. Garforth, 6-0; Miss H. Hepburn beat Miss £. Chisnall, bye. Third round—Miss Durose beat Miss Trounce, 6—5 ; Miss M. Harrop beat Miss Brown, 6—4 ; Miss H. Miss Williams, Miss Grant v Miss M. Harrop, Mis 3H. Hepburn a bye. Men's— Morley v Fraer, Bassett a bye. The Sydenham Lawn Tennis Club held a most enjoyable scratch match on Saturday between its members, sides being chosen by the president (Mr G. T. Booth) and vicepresident (Mr W. Seay). The result was a draw, each side having secured 53 games.
