SYDENHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Sydenham Borough Council met last night. Present—The Mayor (Mr J. Forrester), and Crs. Bell, Muffett, Murray, Large, Jaques, Manhire, Hertzel, Taylor, Laflerty, Cutler and Haliey. The Finance Committee's report showed receipts £407 0s 3d, and recommended expenditure amounting to £914 3s 2d. Balances at Bank were as follows :—Credit —Separate trust account £198 6s, loan interest account £1152 0s 4d, special loan account £4943 5s 9d. Debit—General account £3303 7s 4d. The report was adopted. The Works Committee recommended that the application of the Sydenham Football Club for permission to ose the Sydenham Park be granted. In connection with the complaint alleging that a nuisance existed at Hancock's .Soap Works, the Committee reported that it was proposed to pat the evidence in the hands of Mr T. G. Russell to obtain his opinion on the matter. The report wae adopted. Correspondence was received from Mr Smart with reference to making the approach to the cemetery a public road. A special committee, consisting of the Cemetery Committee and the chairmen of the various standing committees, was appointed to deal with the matter.
The Council then v ent into committee to consider an application from some of the Spreydon residents for incorporation in the Sydenham borough of a portion of the Spreydon district, and on resuming adjourned.
