NAPIER NOTES.

HASTINGS, March 21. Most of the horses engaged in the Napier Park meeting worked strongly yesterday morning, and a good many left early this morning for Taraddle, the headquarters near the course, while others go during the day. Strong work has been done by Douglas, Primula, Tirant, d'Bau, Golden Plover, Woodstock, Tβ Ngaehe, Plain Bill, Rangipunehu, Rhino, Katoomba, Torpina, Nectar, Donovan, The Dude, Prince Charlie and Dottrell. Other borees have been working at the Pane course, including Amphion, Mahaki, Maid Marion, Sylvanus and Sultador. The latest arrivals ware Titoki and Opai on Saturday. A capital meeting is looked for.
Our Greymouth correspondent telegraphs: —The weather was miserable for the Greymouth Trotting - Club's Autumn Meeting to-day, a north-westerly gale blowing right across the ground, with light showers falling' at intervals. Waiuku won the Maiden Handicap, paying £1 lie; the Midland Handicap was won by Beauty, who paid £1 11s ; the Tradesmen's Handicap fell to Jennie XL, the dividend being £1 10s; Johnnie won the Greymouth Trotting Club Handicap, paying £1 16s; and Alyth won the Selling Race, paying £6 19a. In consequence of the fain the other events had to be postponed till next day. .The rider of Beauty, who finished third in the Greymouth Trotting Club Handicap, was brought before the Stewards and cautioned on the ground of suspicious riding. Acceptances for the Marlborough meeting close to-day. Our Dunedin correspondent telegraphs:— For the Tahuna Trotting Cup Awahuri has been put back lOsee, and is now at scratch, the limit horses being at 22eec.
