Darling and Lyons both showed vigotous batting, the former hitting two fives in quick succession. One hundred runs were put up in three-quarters of an hour. After Darling's dismissal the brave stand was not followed up. Storer took Board's place, the latter having injured his hand, and Briggs fielding. The Midland Club won the oricket championship by defeating the Wellington Club. A cricket match played at Hororata *betweeu the Hororota C.C. and the United Courtenay CO. resulted in a win for the U.C.C.C. by an innings and 19runs. Scores —Hororata 34 and 51 (Mclllraith 11 not out, Perov 10, Harper 104 United C.C.C. (Overton 13, Stottl2, Aneon 11, G. Tamer 11 not out, and 29 extras.) Trickett and Mclllraith bowled best for Hororata, and Kemp and Robertson bowled best for the U.C.C.C, Kemp bowling fourteen wickets for 19 runs. The Hororata ladies provided lunch and afternoon tea.
