(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) AUCKLAND, March 19. At Ponsonby, Miss Sheath, a young lady of nineteen, daughter of Mr Sheath (partner of Mr D. G. Macdonnell, sharebroker), was badly burned while boiling beeswax and turpentine on a gas stove, and is,, in a critical condition. WELLINGTON, March 19. The guard and engine driver of the goods train which collided with a passenger train at Mangamahoe have been suspended, and an enquiry will* be held both iinto this and the derailment of an engine at Kaitoke. Mr A. McLean's Wakakati estate, in Canterbury, consisting of 48.000 acres, has been placed under offer to the Government. The Commissioner is now examining and valuing it. Philpott's execution has been fixed tor 8 a.m. on Wednesday. . DUNEDIN, March 19. At the St. Patrick's sports to-day the half mile bicycle race was won by Wallis (55yds) in lmin 7|sec, and the Hibernian Wheel Handicap, two miles, by T. Maw (225 yds) in smin ssec. The three mile scratch bicycle race was won by A. R. Barker, with Sutherland second ; time, smin 17sec.
