O'CONNELL AND SIR R. PEEL. TO TtiK EDITOR Of THK PKKSS. Sib, —I thought when I read "J. F.V letter to-day (Which gives his account of a rery old fray), Hid excuse for so writing "as good Oβ a play;" For it looked to mc, really, as though he would say— " The truth (as you know) is not quite in my way, " But just now I'll produce, for the right Rontgen ray, •* " In spite of Dame Rumour, or Fairy or Fay, " And prove how the truth (as he always thought) lay " Like a needle poked into a bundle of hay, " Or dropped in a well—whole men letrn to their sorrow, " That their version to-day needs conversion to-morrow." But when I arrived at the date at the end, Thinking here "J. F.s " manners will certainly mend, Imagine my feelings, my very good friend ! When I found "J. F.s" almanac "lied like a fiend." -* Yours, Ice, A. F. January 25th, 1898.
