The weather was tine, but the attendance not more than 1000., The events were all handicaps, and very large fields competed. The principal item was the wheel race of two miles, for which twenty-four started in two heats. T. Clarkson fell in the last lap or he would have been in the finish, and Barker, the other scratch man, ;-gave up without completing the distance. In the ■ecorid heat three men fell and only five finished. The final produced a splendid finish, G. Sutherland, 40yds, just beating Bennett, 200 yds, by a few inohee. Blade, 40yds, was a good third. Time, 4rnin 51sec. In the mile twenty-five started. Humphries, 50yds, won his heat in 2min 18eec, and nobody else seemed to have a show. Barker got into the final, and at once spurted and got on to Humphries's wheel. To all appearance he had the race in hand, bet Humphries drew clear half way round the last lap and spurted clean away from the Chriqtchurch flyer, who, for once, was completely out-generalled. ' He was ten yards behind ac the finish, and Curtis (75yds) was some distance off third. Time, 2min 21sec. For the five mile nineteen started, including Clarkson and Barker, bat the latter gave up in the tenth lap, and the former did not persevere till the end. A dozen men, with starts ranging from 240 to 460 yards, were bunched early, and rode all the way in company. When the bell rang they still kept together, and on their entering the straight a> great race took place. Lyon drew clear, but Bennett chased him not foot, and this time the Hawera man managed to push home by the width of. his tyre. The judges had considerable trouble in arriving at a decision. The multicycle race, two miles, was contested by a quad, a triplet and three tandems, Barker and Sutherland, on one of the latter, winning a -fine race from scratch in 4min £4§sec. The times throughout the day were excellent, and there was no loafing.

At* meeting of the Committee of the Linwood Cycling Cleb last .night arrangements were completed for the rim to New Brighton this afternoon, leaving town at 2 o'clock. Megsrs A. Marshall (captain), F. Vizer (vice-captainj and Mr G. S. Lethaby were appointed marshals. The run will be 'joined by the I*ioneer and Chriatchurch Clnbs, and Unattached riders are invited to be present.
