After travelling a quarter of a mile, Prime Minister took second place to Royal Footman, which he resigned nt the mile post to Upper Cut, with Lord Zetland's pair and History next, and One More rapidly tailing off. In the straight, Upper Cut deprived Royal Footman of the command, and was then passed half way up by Prime Minister, History, and Merle. This trio then came away by themselves, and driven to the front at the distance History won by a length from Prime Minister; a neck between second and third. Soon after passing the junction with the round course Yedo beat a retreat, and Mack took up the running from Miss Fraser, St. Noel, and Fosco, of whom the last named, who was pulling double, all of a sudden collapsed. St. Noel then carried his colours to the fore, and at the distance Diakka, who had changed sides, challenged him, with Mack holding on well, and His Reverence making a brief stand.
