ALLEGED CURE FOR TUBERCULOSIS.
Referring to a statement by Dr. Truby King in a Dunedin paper, that from 10 to 20 per cent, of cattle are affected with tuberculosis, the Herald mentions that there is in Gisborne a Mr Driller, who claims to have discovered £n absolute specific for this disease, and from enquiries made there is no reason to donbt his bona fides. Mr Driller says he alighted purely by accident upon a certain drug that he has found, after a number of years careful experimenting, to be a qnick and effectual cure for consumption. It is absolutely fatal to tuberculosis germs, is of an extremely simple nature, can be administered with safety, and leaves no hannfnl results, destroying all trace of the tubercle germs. The animal affected is restored to perfect health, so that its flesh and milk that have been diseased become perfectly wholesome. Mr Driller is anxious that his remedy should be known and tested thoroughly, and, if found to be of value, made of practical benefit to mankind. He points out, however, that he has spent years of labour experimenting, and, beiDg a poor man, thinks he should receive some compensation or reward. He therefore, keeps the nature of the drug a secret. He says he has laid the matter before the Department of Agriculture, but as experts apparently pooh pooh the idea coming from a non-professional man who will not enlighten them as to the nature of the drug, nothing has been done. The Herald says it feels satisfied that Mr .Driller's statements are worthy of investigation, and in the interests of humanity he should be afforded an opportunity of putting his assertions to a practical test to prove or disprove them.
