AUSTRALASIAN EXPORTS TO GREAT BRITAIN.
Some of the leading imports into the United Kingdom from' Australasia are as follows:—
Of the wool imported, 194,399,0001b were re-exported in the firec half of 1896, and 253,919,0001b in the first half of 1897, so that the quantities retained for home consumption were 158,705,0001b in 1896, and 117,843,0001b in 1897. Aα enormous quantity has been shipped to the United States this year, the total for the six months being 127,793,8801b, against only 35,368,3001b for the corresponding period of 1896. The Dingley tariff having come into force, the exports of wool to the United States will now be almost nil for some time to come.
