A DOG HUNT.
The rvmVvoliWa at Hakataramea and HaMon have lately been snfFeri?j£ sat ions losses through the ravages of wild dogs in their ftocka. Several of these dogs, \.veeuniably lost from nibbiters' packs, have been seen at .Station Peak. A dog and a elnt have been several times chased in the neighbourhood of Te Aknteeawani and Waidingi Stations, but alv/a,y3 escaped, and fresh worrying being continually reported ghowert that they were still in the district. Ji shooting party was then organised from several of the .station.'.:, and l>3 - good luck they came across the dogs in the Haldon Hat, an d immediately all the party, being mounted, gave chase. The dogs soon parted company, one making for the liillo and the other heading for the river. Tho latter was followed, and after a long gallop thn party caught up to him as he was preparing to jump a rabbit fence. His pursuers were too close, however, and ho followed the fence down to the river, and was shot by one of the party while taking to the wator. A substantial reward is generally given by station owners to the uestroyeis of these dogs.
