FOOTBALL.
The final trial match before tidei , - ion-Canterbury conteet of next Saturday takes place at Lancaster Park this afternoon. The Canterbury representative team will be picked after practice oh Tuesday. The annual football match between Wanganui Collegiate School and Christ's College will be played this afternoon on the Christ's College ground, beginning at 3 o'clock. Mr W. G-. Garrard will be the referee. The visiting team are a heavy lot, averaging list 41b forward and 10st 31b back. They have made a good record this season, winning all but three of the matches played. Each side will be playing two emergencies, and as these annual school tournaments are productive of good football the attendance should be large. The local team averages a little over 10st 131b forward and 9st 81b back. The teams are as under :—Wanganui Collegiate School— Hewitt, Montgomerie, Beetham, Livick, Palmer, Johnston, Gavin, White, Reddiford, Gorton, Stowe, Taxley, Nairn, Caplen and Anderson. Christ's College—Yorke, Cotterill, Louisson, Fryer, Weston, Paecoe, Winter, Fox, Lindsay, Jennings, Ruther. ford, Overton, Orr, Holderneas, Blunden.
A match is to be played in the North Park this afternoon between representative team B—the names of which have been published—from the Peess Office and Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs's establishment.
