ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

The body of the person found on the Estuary flats on Wednesday morning ha 3 been identified as that of Miss Jane Lawry, 50 years of age. She resided with her niece, Mrs Wright, at Bnrnham. Her health has boon very delicate, and six months ago she went to Auckland to recuperate. The change, however, did hor little or no good. On Tuesday morning she came to town to get advice," but did not call at the place she was supposed to be bound for. She was seen on Tuesday afternoon on the Ferry road, near the bridge, and her dead body was discovered, as stated, ou Wednesday morning. The body was removed to the Wharf Hotel, Woolston, where an inquest took place yesterday afternoon before Mr Beetham, Coroner, and a jury of whom Mr J. Pearce was chosen foreman. Dr. Hunt, who had made a post mortem, examination, gave evidence that death had resulted from drowning. The evidence showed that the child had been well looked after, and death was the result of natural causes. The verdict was accordingly. E. N. Laws, eighteen years of age, an engine cleaner, who had been transferred to Wanganui, this evening stepped on a moving engine, to bid farewell to the driver, when his foot slipped, and he fell with his right leg under the wheels. It was amputated at the hospital.
