THE QUEEN IN IRELAND.
TO THK RDITOR OK THK PK.KSS. Sir, —You make a hash of your dales in your article " Irbh Loyalty" in yesterday's Prkss. The Queen did not open the Exhibition in Dublin in 1849, for the simple reason there was no Exhibition for her to open. In August, 1853, she visited Ireland, and also the Exhibition in Dublin (Dargan's), but did not open it. It was opened on Ist May of that year by the Lord Lieutenant. The Queen did not visit the Lakes of Killarnfiy in 1861. She has only been twice in Ireland. " Tombs's Almanac" is also wrong in the date it gives for opening the Exhibition.—Yours, &c, Dublix. August 27th, 1897., [In his laudable anxiety to correct our mistakes our correspondent has fallen into error himself. The Queen did visit Ireland in 1861, and while there she went, aa we stated, to the Lakes of Killarney. Her Majesty has been three times to Ireland, m 1819, in 1853 and in 1861.—Ed. Prkss.]
