At Kaiapoi on Sunday last the funeral of the late Mrs W. Haigh, wife of Mr Haigh, cloth finisher at the mills, was largely attended. The remains were carried into the Chvirch of England, where a short service was held, and Mr" W. B. Blakeley played a funeral anthem. The service was completed by Mr Dunnage, lay reader, at the Church of England Cemetery, where several beautiful wreaths were placed upon the grave.
On Thursday afternoon the remains of the late Mr Johann, a resident of Kaiapoi for about thirty-four years, were interred in the public cemetery in presence of a large concourse of his friends and neighbours. Part of the funeral service was conducted in the Wesleyan Church, where Mr R. Blakeley, on the organ, played the " Dead March " with telling effect. The ceremony of burial was conducted by the Rev. P. W. Fairclough.
