STABBED.

A ( sensational tragedy occurred in the city. A Mrs Nixon, the wife of a carpenter, was visiting the- office of Mr H. M. Addiaon, a well-known surveyor and Chairman of the State Bank, when Nixon rushed in, exclaiming that he intended to settle a quarrel of eight years' standing. He then stabbed Addison on the temple and severely cut him about the hands and head in the struggle. Nixon then turned on his wife and stabbed her three times in the back. The woman is in a serious condition, and her dying depositions have been taken. Nixon had been absent in the country, and returned a few days ago.
