THE GOVERNOR.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TBLKQRAM.) AUCKLAND, August 25
Everything is now ready for the fitting reception of the Earl of Ranfurly to-morrow. The weather was fine to-day after heavy rain, but to-night there is rain and the weather is threatening.
On Lord Ranfurly'3 appointment as Governor of New Zealand, ho wae presented by the Ulster Loyalist Union with a massive silver bowl, richly chased, with festoons composed of the ro3e, shamrock and thistle, and mounted on an ebouy base. The bowl bears the following inscription :— " Presented by the Council of the Ulater Loyalist Union to their President, the Right Hon. Uchter John Mark, fifth Earl of Ranfurly, on his appointment as Governor of New Zealand, May sth, 1897." This handsome bowl was (says the New Zealand Times) inspected with great interest at Saturday's reception. So likewise was a large silver cup, inscribed as follows: —"Presented to the Right Hon. Uchter John Mark, fifth Earl of Kanfurly, by Dungannon Loyalists, as a souvenir of their hearty appreciation of his zealous and indefatigable services in support of the Union, August, 1895."
