GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.

Much better weather was experienced for the second daj T of the Ladies' Golf Championship, which was continued at the North Park yesterday morning. The visitors are becoming more used to the greens, with the result that their approaching was better than the day before. Miss L. Wilford, of the Hutt, is maintaining her lead, though by a very small margin, Mrs Vernon, of Christchurch, and Miss Rattray, of Dunedin, being very close up, while Mrs Wilder, of Christchurch, is only nine behind those two players'. Great interest was centred in the match between Mrs Wilder and Miss Rattray, Miss Rattray winning after an exciting game. The following are the scores at the completion of the second round :—

A lofting competition -was held in the afternoon, and resulted in a tie between Mrs Wigram and Miss L. Bowen, who scored 18 each. Miss L. Bowen won the play-off. * The third round for the Championship will be played to-morrow morning. To-day a handicap match -will be played.
