MRS OLIPHANT'S FUNERAL.
I The funeral of Mrs Oliphant took place on Tuesday afternoon, June 29th, at Eton Oni'.'tei V. The body was laid not far from the home where her later j'ears were mainly spent, helw*>en those of the two sons whom She hud so tenderly loved, and so heroically worked (or. She had expressly desired that the ceremony should be simple ami inexpensive. i\niong the wreaths was one from tho Queen (who whs represented by Captain Dninunond, of Megginch), bsurin;.-, in her Majesty's hand, the words, "A mark of admiration and respect from Viiiluiiii, X.1." ' Mm Olipliant's last letter was written to the Queen, who was deeply alluded by the news of her death. Among others present at tho funeral wero Mr Holmes, the Quben*B librarian, and Mr J. 1 M. Burrie.
