CHRISTCHURCH SHEEP DOG TRIAL CLUB.

| The Christchurch Sheep Dog Trial Club wag favoured with beautiful weather yester. day for the continuation of their comi petition, at CiwUipere, There wasupn* good attendance, and some Very interest—g work was witnessed. During the afternoon several lots of sheep let out did not settle dowu after thoy were left, and in consequence some of the best dogs, including Mr Anderson's Bruce and Mr Little's Gather were put out through their sheep getting away among the rocks. The heading, bringing back and yarding competition was got through, though no dog was successful in getting the sheep into the pen, and the hunt away had to be postponed till this morning. The drag will leave Tattersall's at 8.30 a.ra., and the trial will commence at 9 a.m. sharp. Before leaving the ground Mr F. A. Archer thanked the competitors for the manner in whioh they had supported the Club, and promised a better ground on the same estate next yeav. Hearty cheers were given for Mr Rutherford, the judge, and for Mr Hugonin. Last evening ttie prizewinners were judged at the Winter Show for tho Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association's special prizes, Mr P. Elder being the judge. Mr M. Harrison's Toss won the prize for the best roughhaired dog, and the judge's decision in the case of smooth-haired wax reserved until after the hunt away trial to-day. Mr E, G. Staveley presented the prizes won during the competitions whioh have been oompleted. The thanks of the Club are due to the Hon. Sec., Mr A. R. Ellis, who with Mr Geo. Bisset have worked very energetically to carry the meeting through to a successful issue.

The following was the result of the heading, bringing back and yarding, about 350 yards; prizes £6, £3 and £1;.- time, IB minutes; points, heading 6, bringing back 10, yarding 7, style 7, total 50: —Mr W, W. Mcßae's blk and w d Barr, 4, 10, 0, 7—21, 1; Mr M. Harrison's sable d Toss,.s, 8, 0, 7 —20, 2; Mr A. McLeod'a blk d Corbie, 5, 8,0,5-18,3.

Mr P. Hodge's Rob cast to right, backedand wa3 very alack in going out, crossed, headed well on left, but worked roughly and split the sheep coming down the hill, rotate 3. Mr A. McLeod'e Corbie cast to left, went out in splendid style, headed well, was a little rash in bringing book, and one of the sheep fell in the fern, but after a losa of four minutes the shoop rejoined its com' panions. The dog worked under fine command, but was wide at the yard, and failed to get the sheep in in time. Points 5; 8,0, s—lß. Mr B. Hopkins's Cub cast to left, got away to the holding yard, made a fresh, start, crossed and headed fairly well, but was top rash in bringing back and split the sheep in the gully. Mr R. Scott's Rough caet to right, went out well and headed nicely, brought back.steadily and under good command ; was a little too wide at the yard and time was up before the sheep were penned. Points 6, 7, 0, 3—15. Mr E. R. Turton's Stump caet to right, was noisy in going out, headed very well, worked very wide and noisily, was too rash at the yard and lost the sheep. Points 3, 6, 0, 3—12. Mr L. Bradley's Butler cast from left to right in front of man, recroased to S";ht and never got on to the cheep. r A. S. Smith's Don cast to left and got away after other sheep, made a fresh start, headed very well, was noifljr and rough in bringing back, and split the cheep. Points 5, 5, 0, 0 -10. Mr JT Weir, een.'s, Star cast to left, crossed and headed; quietly, worked inside, and was rash at i times in comiftg on the sheep/ split and loafc them at the ring. Points 3, 7, 0, o—lo. Mc F. H. Courage's Toss crossed from left Ito right in front of man, recroaaed and went away over spur to the holding yard. Mr H. Lambert's Rock caet to left, was slack in; going out, rough and noisy in heading, and. split and lost the sheep near the ring. Points 2, 5, 0, o—7. Mr J. Weir, jan.% Smart cast to left, was very slow in going out, crossed and headed noisily on the right, worked too much on top side, and time waa called before the sheep reached the ring. Mr W. Anderson's Bruce cast to left, and was ft -- little slaok in going out. The sheep got away to the top of the rocks before they were headed and the dog was unable to shift them off a steep face where tbey had stationed themselves. Points 4, Mr A. Cameron's Besa cast to right, crossed tfo I gully below the sheep and got away .to the holding yard. Mr l>. Fraser'u Rock cast to left, went oat a bit slack, but under good command, raced - the sheep to head them and crossed in doing \'Bo, a bib noisy and too much ringing "* bringing back. Time was called before the cheep had reached the ring. Mr Mv Harrison's Toss cast to loft, went- out Well and headed quietly, brought back very steadily, showed eplen.did,. form at the riag, j but failed to yard the shpep before the caU of time. Points 5,8, 0, 7—20. Mr H. T. Lillis'e Gather cast to the left, went out well, but as the sheep raced up the gully the dog crossed in heading aad split the sheep among the rocks. Points 3. Mr J. SutherI land's Clyde cast to left, went out a bit slack, but under good control; was noisy afld j rash in heading, rough and noisy in bringing back, worked too wide at the ring aca i split the sheep. Points 3, 7, 0, 3—13. Mr T. G. Beadel's Glen cast to left, crossed aad out through the sheep in headiag, gave too much tongue in bringing back, split and loeS the cheep at the ring. Points 2,5, 0, 3—laMr J. Weir, senr's, Gyp cast to right, wenfc" out fairly well, but crossed and headed noisily and roughly, split the sheep and lost them. Mr W. W. Mcßae's Bar? caet to left, went out well, crossed and heaoea quietly, brought the sheep down stesdilf and in good style, was under good command and had the sheep nice and quiet at the yard when time was called.
