WELLINGTON.

[Br KtJßi.]

By the Wakatipu last Saturday Mr B. 'LYiggs sent the following Fox Terriers to Sydney:—viz., Dusky D'Oraay, Darkie Domine (lately imported and just out of qnarantine) : Torment, Treason, and Treachery, which have been purchased by Mr J. F. Thompson, President of the NewSouth Wales Kennel Olub. Parting with such a tine lot of highly bred dogs must have been a severe wrench to their owner and breeder, after the pains he has taken to get such a prize lot together, and Mr Thompson must be congratulated upon becoming the possessor of the finest FoxTerriersout of England. This may be considered a tall statement to make, but competent visiting judges, several; ef whom have passed through New Zealand, have all .been loud in their praise of these dogs. It is a severe loss to New Zealand fanciers that these dogs should have been permitted to leave, but the expense necessary in keeping up a large kennel, and the difficulty in obtaining sufficient grounds in Wellington for exercising and breeding his dogs determined Mr Trigge in parting with the larger ; portion of them, especially as they were going into the hands of one who could* appreciate such animals. X Mr" Thompson should mate Darkie Domine with Torment, the result will, I think, be . one that will give him every, satisfaction- Mr F. Redmond, one of the principal Fox Terrier breeders in England, has achieved a' signal success in the show ring.with Donna Fortunai which is bred from, the; same strain as the two dogs'l h»yef'juat> mentioned. Mr Thompson, it wiH be remembered, purchased from Mr Triggs some time ago Traitor, litter brother to Treason and Treachery. Mr Triggs still has some six Terriers, which he has decided to keep to watch experiments. The schedules for the Wellington X.C Show are now ready'and fanciers may rely upon the energy of the secretary being brought.; into requisition to supply them without a moment's delay.

I am glad te learn that Mr Fraser lias recovered his lost- Pug bitch, but without her pups. -
