WINSLOW SPORTS AND RACE MEETING.
After a lapse of something like twelve years horse racing and athletic sports have been revived 1 at Winslow, and the meeting held on Queen's Birthday was an unqualified success. The Secretary, Mr A. A. Fooks, and every "member of the Committee worked with a right good wiU\and Mr W. Sutherland threw his whole heart into making the meeting a thorough success. Following are the results of the horse racing events :— Maiden Handicap, of S soys ; six furlongs —Mr W. Chisnall's b g Ngahere 1, Mr W. ChisnalTs b g Whitelaw 2, Mr W. Houston's br c Jocko 3. Tom also started. Time, lmin 22$ sec. Winslow Handicap, of 10 soys; one mile —Mr J. Drennan's br g The Miller 1, Mr S. Alexander's b g Mount Clair 2, Mr P. Burkes b g' Oarsman 3. Te A'o, The' Thing, Tessa, . Tit-* Chestnut, Emerald, Ultiman also started. Time, lmin 49£se& Winslow, Trot Handicap, of 10 soys ; one mile and a balf—Mr S. Charm's br ml Bloomot? 1, Mr T. Griffin'b m g Welbeek 2, Mr _. Bennison's b g Pickles 3. Golden Tresses, Daisy Bell, Isabel, No Hope, Little Nell, Hollowback and Pinchbeck also started. Bot Fly was first past the post. Opal, Henrietta, "Glen, Pardon- and Miss Hai-kaway also ran. ~ Time, 3mia 14seo. f - A Hurry Scurry of 3 soys, four furlongs, was won by. Mr J. Drennan's br g The Miller, with'Ngahere second. Do 'Em All and Maid of Tinwaid also started. A protest in the Pony Handicap against Bot lily for going on the wrong side'of a post was upheld, and the stakes were awarded to Welbeek. ■"' ATHLETIC EVENTS.
