Press Association-By Telegraph—Copyright. London, May 28. . The second series of the wool sales closed yesterday, the prices obtained being the highest of the series. As compared with the opening rates medium, and inferior merinos and crossbreds advanced to 10 per cent. Best scoureds were sometimes dearer daring the series than at the close. Merino crossbred lambs' wool was 5 to 7£ per cent, below the rates obtained at last series. The Yorkshire manufacturers were the principal operators. Matahaki, New Zealand brand, realised 9d. The total quantity catalogued for the series amounted to 220,000 bales, of which 115,000 were sold for home consumption, 83,000 for the Continent, 12,000 v for America, and 56,000 carried forward to the next sales.
