THE FIRE IN SYDENHAM.
TO THK EDITOR OF THX PRESS. Sis, —In reading your report of the late fire mention is made of Johnson's store being saved, &c, but'not a word of the buildings on the other side, which caught fire twice and were swed by the persistent action of Fireman Emson. This man's action is worthy of all praise ; observed by all, he stood between the two buildings, the space being only some forty feet, while one of hi 3 comrades covered him with a second coat and threw water over him to keep him from actually catching fire.—Yours, &c, Eye-Witness.
