(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) "'. ' ■ DUNEDIN, April 16. A Prohibition Convention of delegates from Churches and Temperance Societies was held to-day, delegates being present from various parts of the South Island to the number of nearly 100. The Rev. 'A. Dewdney presided. The following resolutions were carried :— " That the Convention request Parliament ro make provision during next session for the taking of a colonial vote on prohibition; that the Convention repeat its demand for a bare majority vote; that Clubs in which liquor is supplied should be brought under the provisions of the Act regulating the sale of intoxicating beverages; that the meeting protest, against revenue derived from the sale of liquor, contending that it is immoral to derive any revenue from that which debases the people, but so long as any revenue is derived from, that source ib should be colonial revenue ; that the Convention repeat its demand for the abolition of bottle, packet and conditional licenses." The Convention then went- into Committee, when, it is understood, it was resolved to ask for " reduction " being struck out of the ballot paper and the restoration to Licensing Committees of discretion to make reductions. Before the Convention, the Otago Prohibition Council met and re-elected Mr A. G. Adams President.
