EYRETON.
From the successful concert held in November, in which the Committee were assisted by Misses Sims and Young and Messrs Weston and Bennett, and after which the operetta of "Britannia's Court" was given by the school children, a sum of £9 was realised for tho treat, which was held on Mr H. Clothier's farm, and for the prizes which were distributed last week. The following is a list of the successful scholars:— Standard Vl.—Arnold Fair weather, John Moore. Standard V.—Fred Giles. Standard IV. — Mary Millar, Cissie Clothier, Winifred Giles, Fred Fairweather. Standard lll.—Florence Giles, Leila Fairweather, Ada Paterson, Henry Ciothiev. Standard ll.—Jane Cherry, James Millar, Huuter Millar. Good conduct—William Butters. "Attendance—Florence Giles, Feed Giles, Henry Clothier, Frod Fairweafcher. The needlework was examined by Messrs Scott and L. Giles, with the following result:—Class 1, Winifred Giles ; clans 2, Florence Giles, Ciesie Clothier and. Ada Paterson (equal);class 3, Leila Fairweather; class 4, Daisy .Fairweather, Florence Moore. Ellen Millar, Maria Beale. A special prize. ,was given to Mary Millar by Mrs Alley. The following prizes were given by the teachers :—For composition, Arnold Fairweather, Fred Giles; dictation, Arnold Fairweather, Fred Giles; arithmetic' and spelling, Cissie Clothier, Florence Giles, Heury Clothier, James Millar; spelling, Mary Millar; arithmetic, Leila Fairweather; spelling, Alice Cook, Jane Cherry. Special prize, progress, Maggie Marshall. The usual votes of thanks being tendered, Mr R. Murphy, Chairman of the School Committee, proposed, and Mr Denton That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded the teacher for the able manner in which he has brought the children forward for the past twelve.months." This was carried by chjeers.
